14-05-12: Yuri Honing winner Boy Edgar Prijs
Surely you have heard the good news that Yuri Honing has won the VPRO/Boy Edgar Prijs! The saxophonist is the leading jazz improvisator in the Netherlands, according to the professional jury. The award will be handed out during a festive evening in the Bimhuis on May 16th. Yuri Honing will perform with his Acoustic Quartet and guests musicians.The evening will be broadcasted on VPRO Jazz Live Radio.
The VPRO/Boy Edgar Prijs, is awarded annually to a Dutch instrumentalist, composer, arranger or band leader in the area of jazz and improvised music who has distinguished him/herself for a long period of time by his/her active, initiating and above all, original role. The award and the festive evening fall under the auspices of the VPRO (Dutch public broadcoasting) and Muziek Centrum Nederland (Music Center the Netherlands)

"Yuri Honing is blessed with great musical talent, craftsmanship and workmanship. He carries out his profession creatively and inventively in a pioneering and cross-bordering manner."
